 Visit Miller’s Pottery

Take a short ride up to Brent Alabama, to see some creative minds at work.  Alabama Public Television has highlighted this artistic family and today we will pay a personal visit to a local family of potters.  You will be able to watch a man throw a pot on the wheel and see how they finish the pottery for everyday use.  Items will be available for sale from flower pots, martin pottery gourds, pitchers, churns etc.  We will stop for lunch at the Sawmeal.

Nashville Night on the Town

OK, ya’ll pack up and prepare to come the time of you life for an evening in Nashville.  We will go up Friday and do a little sight seeing on the way, check in to our lodging in downtown Nashville, go have a BBQ dinner & dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon, the hot night spot in Nashville.  We will have line dance instructors to accompany our group!  So if you have been practicing line dancing or are a novice, this trip is for you!  The next day we will have a city sightseeing tour before heading home.

Shiloh National Park

This will be a traveling back in history as we visit several Civil War historical sites.  Stops on our route will be:   Civil War Interpretive Center; lunch at Martha’s Menu;  Shiloh National Park;  Curlee House;   An ice cream break at Borroum’s Drug Store; Brice’s Cross Roads Battlefield.

Nashville Night on the Town

 Collinsville Quilt Walk

We will travel to the Sand Mountain area to take a walk around town and share in history.  The quilts are displayed in the old homes and churches in town.  Be careful! You just might find yourself so excited about the houses that you forget to look at the quilts!  The proceeds go toward the Collinsville Library Building Fund.

Rural Studio Tour

This is a fascinating tour of progress meeting the Black Belt.  Auburn University schhols of engineering and architecture have been building innovative new structures all throughout the Black Belt to help sustain the area and explore new building techniques and processes.  We will have lunch at O Grande’s in Greensboro.

Scarecrows in the Garden @ Aldridge Gardens

Covered Bridge Walk & Fall Walk at Guntersville State Park

We will travel up Friday evening to Guntersville State Park to enjoy the Fall Foliage and prepare for the next day of beautiful walking tours. Saturday morning we will breakfast together at the Lodge then proceed to Oneonta to walk the Swann Covered Bridge to Powell Falls.  We will then return to the Lodge for a lunch buffet before embarking on the Fall Color Hike.  A guided nature hike will have you in awe of the forests ablaze with color. You won’t want to miss the “golden” opportunity to see autumn foliage at its finest.

Birmingham Museum of Art – Leonardo da Vinci Exhibit

The BMA will host one of the most significant groups of drawings by Leonardo da Vinci to be loaned to a U.S.  museum by the Biblioteca Reale (Royal Library) in Turin, Italy.  These exquisite drawings have never before traveled as a group nor in their entirety been made available outside of Italy.
