PARA’s neighborhood programming is designed to offer activities that meet the interests and needs of the communities surrounding each of its activity centers. Some activities may be available at multiple centers, while others may be unique to a particular location. Some upcoming neighborhood recreation programs are listed below by center. If you have ideas for programming at your neighborhood center, please contact the center manager.
Jerry Belk Activity Center
take a walking challenge with a child
October is Child Health month. Join the walking challenge at the Belk center and bring along a child 16 years or younger and record your progress on your daily log sheet provided by us. Prizes will be rewarded in the following areas: Most days completed and Most time exercised

Rent a booth and/or find a treasure with the convenience of being indoors

Helping a Neighbor in Need
Help us help others with the Belk’s “Lend a Can” during the holiday season to help others in need. Participate in the Belk Center’s food drive and show the community PARA cares.
Date: October 27- November 14
Time: Daily during Center hours
Cost: Donate 2 canned or nonperishable food items- members will be eligible to win a PARA prize and nonmembers can work out for the day for free

Parent Track: Can't find a sitter? Exercise with your baby! The walking track will be open to parents with strollers! Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 9-11am. FREE for members or $4 per day for non-members.

Bobby Miller Activity Center
Stride With Pride
Come join our Fall indoor walking challenge and use our indoor walking track and treadmills to exercise in air-conditioned comfort! With a PARA pedometer, you will count and record your total # of steps each day. Fun prizes will be awarded to the top participants.

Stroller Steppin’
Stroll away stress and extra pounds with your baby! The indoor walking track will be open to parents with strollers. No registration necessary, just come and walk.

QuickStart Tennis
QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. For ages 5-8 years old. Call 758-0419 for more information.
