The Bobby Miller Activity Center, located in Newt Hinton Park off of 69 S in Taylorville, opened September 1, 2006 and was dedicated on September 10, 2006.  Features include a gym with multipurpose flooring, a community room, a multipurpose room, a catering kitchen, a fitness/cardiovascular room with workout equipment, heated indoor therapeutic and recreational pools, locker rooms, and a suspended walking track.  This center also features the Taylorville Brown Branch of the Tuscaloosa County Public Library on the second level.

Stroller Steppin' 
Stroll away stress and extra pounds with your baby! The indoor walking track will be open to parents with strollers. No registration necessary, just come and walk. 
Date: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays*   
Time: 10:00am – noon*

Cost: Free with membership, or casual user fee applies.

Stride With Pride
Come join our Fall indoor walking challenge and use our indoor walking track and treadmills to exercise in air-conditioned comfort!  With a PARA pedometer, you will count and record your total # of steps each day. Fun prizes will be awarded to the top participants.
Date: September 8-October 9 (open enrollment)
Time: Daily during center hours
Location: Miller Center
Cost: Free with membership, or casual user fee applies. Free PARA pedometer to the 1st 30 new participants who register!

QuickStart Tennis
QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size.  For ages 5-8 years old.  Call 758-0419 for more information.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Miller Center, the Taylorville Brown Branch Library offers special programs for toddlers, children, teens, and adults.  The following is a list of upcoming library community programs.
  
  
Book Discussion (Adults)
The Brown Branch Library offers a monthly group book discussion for adults and mature teens. A new book selection will be discussed each month.  Call for future monthly book selections and dates. 
Date: First Tuesdays of each month:  September 2 (Nickel and Dimed)
Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Location: Brown Branch Library
Cost: No charge.
